Laura Davies
Laura DaviesOwner/Teacher
Laura is our Lead Teacher at Swim Champs. Holding ASA teaching qualifications at Level 1 & 2 standard, and also Coaching Aquatic Pre Fundamental. Laura not only delivers our Learn to Swim programme across South Wales, but also delivers our Baby and Toddler classes. Coming from a background in Elite sport, Laura went on to study BSc Hons degree in Sports Development, before achieving her PGCE (Ma) in Secondary Physical Education. Laura then taught in a local Secondary School for 7 years, before developing her business idea of Swim Champs. In her spare time over the past few years, Laura has been involved in the British Gas Great Swim Series, managing the elite athletes. Laura is also the proud mother to her two beautiful girls, so it’s fair to say, she likes to keep herself busy.
David Davies
David DaviesOwner/Teacher
Dave was a member of the British Swimming team from 2001 until he retired in 2012. During this time he was Britain’s leading male distance swimmer. David represented Great Britain at 7 World Championships, 6 European Championships, 3 Olympic Games where he won a BRONZE medal in Athens in the Mens 1500m event, and a SILVER in Beijing in the Mens 10km Open Water Race. David was also the Flag bearer in Delhi at the 2010 Commonwealth Games, where he came away with the gold medal in the 1500m event.
David owns, and runs Swim Champs alongside his wife Laura, and he too is an ASA qualified swimming teacher.
Jimmy Griffin

Originally from Llanelli, Jimmy is now studying Law at Cardiff University. Jimmy used to swim competitively as a youngster, and has represented his county. Jimmy is an ASA qualified Level 2 swimming teacher.
Xavier Mohammed

Xavier is a current International Swimmer, who has represented Team Wales in Glasgow at the Commonwealth Games. Xav also is a former European Junior Champion in the 400m IM event. Xav lives and trains in Cardiff, and has 6 years experience in teaching swimming. Xav is a Level 2 ASA qualified swimming teacher, and also has his level 1 coaching qualification.
Cara James

Cara is a Level 2 ASA qualified teacher, and also swimming coach. Cara is a real foody, and a great advocate for health and wellbeing loving. Cara is a mum to two lovely girls, and her maternal instinct can be seen every lesson with the way in which makes every child feel so at ease in her company, even the most nervous of swimmers. Cara always enjoys every lesson, and fun for all it of the utmost importance in all her lessons.
Llinos Lewis

Llinos is currently studying for her A Levels in Gorseinon Collage. Llinos is a former club swimmer, and holds her ASA level 1 teaching qualification. Llinos is keen to gain as much experience with Swim Champs as possible, alongside her studies.
Zoe Arthur

Zoe holds an advanced Swimming Instructor qualification, and is very passionate about delivering high quality, fun lessons. Zoe used to compete for Swansea, and has 20 years experience in this field. Zoe is also a primary school teacher, working in Llanelli.
Alex McDowell

Alex is a qualified primary school teacher, with a passion for swimming. He currently holds his ASA level 1 qualification, and has 10 years experience delivering high quality lessons. Alex used to compete for Llanelli ASA, and still enjoys a recreational swim before each shift.
Lily Griffin

Lily is highly energetic in her delivery of Learn to Swim lessons, resulting in all our young swimmers loving her lessons. Lily is first language welsh, and delivers all of her lessons bilingually. Lily has proven herself very popular with 1:1 customers due to her trustworthy character, and ability to make the most nervous of swimmers feel at ease in her company, and in the water. Lily is studying locally for her A levels.
