With years of experience in competitive swimming, we at Swim Champs, completely understand that all athletes are individuals, therefore we  do not coach a ‘One Way Only’ approach to swimming. What works for you may not for someone else. Your ideal stroke is different from another person’s. During our 1:1 coaching sessions, we identify your individual needs and how best to improve your swimming. Whatever your experience. Whatever your skill level. Whatever your body type. Every session will be Taylor-made to suit your individual needs.

Technique stroke work is very important to your swim speed. How many sessions have you gone to and had a coach purely looking at ways to make your stroke the most efficient it can be? Our 1:1 sessions offer expert tips and advice on ways to perfect a stroke that suits you.

Once technique has been mastered, there is then a need to increase fitness training in order to improve overall performance.  With a wealth of experience behind our team, we can offer training sets to help you get ‘water fit’ which as we all know, has no direct correlation to your fitness on land.

The swimmers who keep improving and become faster master the right balance of pool fitness sessions and technique training.

What is an Endless Pool?

Fancy training without the traffic of your usual local pool? Endless pools create your own compact swimming environment, where you swim against a broad, deep current that’s adjustable to any speed, stroke or ability.

What is involved in our training sessions?

These pools lend themselves perfectly to creating the perfect learning/coaching environment. Without other human traffic, filming is done from these pools, creating both over the surface, and underwater footage. Instant feedback and correctional skills are then given based on your individual swimming needs.

Situated at the bottom of the pool is a mirror, which is a great tool for our swimmers to see their hand entry, body rotation, catch and stroke path – all elements we touch on during our individual coaching sessions with you.

Did you know – that athletes are exceptionally fast visual learners! I bet you have probably spent hours listening to coaches/peers chatting about having the ‘perfect stroke’. How many of you really understand swimming jargon? Seeing really is believing. Our sessions give you the opportunity to watch yourself back immediately (from the pool, on the same day) and witness what we see. As a result, adjustments to form are instant, and if practiced regularly have a huge impact on performance.

We offer these 1 hour individual workshops once a month from our pool in Cardiff

Our NEXT DATES are:

  • 20th February 2018
  • 2nd March 2018
  • 25TH APRIL 2018
  • 27TH APRIL 2018

Please email us to enquire / book on. We will send you your allocated time slot and provide payment details.

Cost of these sessions – £80 for 60 minute pool session.

Sighting is a word often used in open water swimming to describe a swimmers ability to travel in the correct line.

It involves lifting your eyes out of the water to see where you are going – very important in order to navigate accurately around a swim course.

Sounds simple enough- have you tried it? You may think that sighting is as simple as lifting your head to look forward and see where you are going – have you tried it? It requires a great deal of skill and technique to do it well. The world’s best triathletes and open-water swimmers can sight without disrupting the rhythm of their stroke or their body position in the water, and this is key. An open water swimmers technique is very different to the long smooth technique you would see on that of a pool swimmer. Sighting, current, chop and pack swimming all affect the way an open water swimmer competes. To learn more, book in for your tailored session to suit your individual swimming needs.

3 times Olympic swimmer David Davies has created 3 x 10 week swim training plans to help you improve your swimming ability, offering both technical drills and sets for improving fitness and stamina in the water.

Different packages are available based on your current swimming ability.

Designed to improve your techniques and swimming abilities whatever the age, ability and event.

You can book David a Triple Olympic Swimmer, for a visit to your local club, where he will give a masterclass to your select audience, helping them to improve their swimming performance both in and out of the water.

From his days as an Olympic Swimmer, David uses a carefully selected programme of skills and drills making swimming easy to understand and master.

David will run a pool based session, where he will coach athletes on perfecting their techniques in the water, followed by a land session -giving an inspirational insight on life as an elite athlete, and what it takes to reach the top of your swimming game. We will about talk race preparation, which is the downfall of most young competitors, simply based on lack of knowledge in this area of the sport.  The day is finished off by a Q+A session, and a chance to see his Olympic medals up close, and pose for a photo (or two).

These masterclasses are a perfect balance of both technical and tactical information any swimmer competing will need, whether its in a pool or open water. Great for increasing confidence at any level within the sport. David comes with a wealth of experience at the very top level in both these disciplines.
